Internet, anger, social imagination - this book searches for the formula of the alloy which the digital citizen crystallizes from. From the communist individual who had to be mobilized without being a citizen, through the post-communist citizen, who had the passion to participate and the freedom not to equally, to the digital citizen who experiments with new forms of mobilization - the study traces the way from the refused to the wanted citizen rights. The citizenship is identity, and participation, and belonging, and commitment. The authors examine the innovation of citizenship online and offline, and the continuous transitions and the shading between them. Two are the ideas which the book uses to capture the readers - first, internet has a political project, second, this project is called digital citizenship - vital, active, engaged.

This is the second title from the set Zadkulisieto na prekhoda (in English The Backstage of the Transition) by the political analyst Anton Todorov. He describes in it the last events in Bulgaria (until June 2013, note of selector), days of protest, work of the caretaker government, and the first decisions of the next selected government. After selecting (in June, 2013) Delian Peevski for the President of DANS (the Bulgarian State Agency to the Council of Ministers for the implementation of the policy of national security), the Bulgarians screamed their "Out" against this outrageous arrogance shown by the new three-party coalition between BSP and DPS and "Ataka", and the demonstration of a exponentially growing political ignorance in Bulgaria. Decisions, appointments and government of the prime-minister Oresharski gave every reason to make sure they are not rushing into judgment - the ruling tri-party coalition is made up of exceptional political scoundrels, stooges of the Bulgarian organized crime and puppets of oligarchy.

How from an accused at the Leipzig process he became a prosecutor? What is his role for the turn-over in the Comintern for a united front against the fascism? Is he guilty for the death of the hundreds of Bulgarian communist and functionaries during the Comintern and the Stalinist repressions in the USSR? The reader will find answers to these and many other questions in the present book which was made by more than 400 archive units from Bulgarian and recently unclassified Russian documents, the Georgi Dimitrovs diary, dozens of monographs on the subject.

The book is a contemporary documentary about the political and economic developments in Bulgaria in the recent years which changed the face of the city. In the 21st century, Varna went back into the era of feudalism. The best city to live in ever increasingly resembles a ghetto for drooling deviants - every day the devastation conquered more and more positions in the so-called urban environment, while its rulers sing in chorus how the people working for them languish in prosperity. Today Varnas debt is almost 50 million euros, its streets and boulevards seemed to have experienced deep plowing and around the holes in the asphalt are sported palms in pots. An absurd picture of a town in demise... This is a book about the way of the Varna's mayor - Kiril Iordanov and the fall of the city.

Its content is concise and clear: Four articles stated what the Bulgarian Communist Party in the period from September 9, 1944 to November 10, 1989 is. After being declared a criminal organization, then why in the mentioned period no main prosecutor has dealt with this issue? It is exactly the main prosecutors that should know that laws are created to be carried out. This issue - containg materials on the case of espionage against Ivan Asen Hristov Georgiev -doesn't need any comments. Current or future main prosecutor should lift the veil on this issue because the whole Bulgarian society is waiting on it.

The following texts are focused on personality traits, as well as conceptual ideas of the most famous philosophers and theologians on the most important issues of that time, such as the relationship between philosophy and theology, philosophy, literature, and devoted to the Russian religious metaphysics and sofist philosophy, etc.

The Bulgarian origin has not yet been elucidated, despite the centuries-old disputes and many theories. In these theories, the principle is based on the unreasonable assumption of a strong theory that the Bulgarians created our country were different from us, today's Bulgarians. Therefore, for them there is an invented name - great Bulgarians, and ethnonym "Bulgarian" is "read" by all languages, not only in Bulgarian. If we approach this issue without prejudice, and turn to the historical evidence and facts, it appears that the Bulgarian origin ethnonym is fully explained by the contemporary Bulgarian language, folk customs, social structure and economic life. Moreover - other ethnonyms that were called Bulgarians have the same primary and derivative meanings, and they find support in the language. Such as the Huns (Honi), Goths, Saqlab etc. From all this we can conclude that the modern Bulgarians are direct descendants of the old ones. Moreover, the Bulgarian language and characteristics find parallels in ancient civilizations and peoples, confirming similar information given about them in some historical chronicles.

Second supplemented edition. The study tracks how the Bulgarian revival was perceived in the native history scholarly from its inception until today, and how perceptions have changed over time. In seven chapters are presented all aspects and meanings of the era, such as periodization, analogies with the Renaissance and the Enlightenment interpretations of the Ottoman "feudalism" and the transition to capitalism, the bourgeoisie and landlords, hierarchy of characters from the national pantheon, April Uprising and the Russo-Turkish War. The author analyzes the Revival as a national myth and shows how the great official historical narrative, despite attempts to secular recently, treatment of this era remains romantic, sentimental, rinsed and deeply biased. Demonstrates how ideas, deemed resolved in science, continue to play in the textbooks for secondary and even higher education and thus pass into the collective consciousness as indisputable truths. This revised edition includes responses to the author in the discussion on the first edition which was sold out very fast in the book market. Proposed is a theoretical part and a summary of the latest trends in the writing of the Renaissance.    This book is dedicated to the history of the Macedonian issue, and its genesis, in which a significant role played Count Gyula Andrassy - Hungarian aristocrat, known for his painful Russophobia. Feelings, especially hate, are a bad adviser in politics and can achieve short-term positive effects and negative long-term consequences. The author manages to paint a psychological portrait of this man, Andrassy, to the small details that are directly related to his work as a Foreign Minister. Dr. Teodora Toleva collates and compares the foreign policy of Austria-Hungary in the 70s of the XIX century to that of other European powers in order to elucidate the reasons for the emergence of the Macedonian issue. In the book, the reader will find unknown or little-known evidence of the hidden "secret diplomacy" which shapes the Balkans today.

What does a statesman mean? The author, a longtime head of the department "Politics" and "Public Administration" is committed, as a scientist, to answer just that question, leaning on his expertise in both political science and administrative science. The study is based on the commonalities between the creators of post-crisis "miracles" in the world - Deng Xiaoping, Mahatma Gandhi, Konrad Adenauer, Golda Meir, Stefan Stambolov... people so different from the others that calling them statesmen is an understatement. The author opposes past party politics to the future of concrete policies to give effect to the current definition of statesmanship. "Durzhavnichestvoto" is a book that calls for a long-awaited discussion on this misunderstood concept.

On the April Uprising, because it is located on the border of two modes of sovereignty, and therefore allows to be shown how freedom can be articulated in a way, different from the one we perceive as natural, in a way that would explain why today the thirst for complete freedom, which lead to the rebels being burned alive, is coming back again.

The book contains essays on women directly involved in terrorist acts and assassinations. They are divided into three groups according to the historical periods in which they operate. What little is known so far about these women can not give us a true picture of them because it is the fruit of the old days of idealism. Recently discovered police archives and personal records allow us to peek into the intimate world of women terrorists to reveal their motives, and to convey the "other truth" about their exploits. Too often it sounds outrageous and damning. As yet there are living descendants of these women, the author does not intrude assessment, but leaves the reader to draw conclusions alone from the many facts.

Today, most Bulgarians dont reflect on this question, and those still interested in it, can only think of the Bulgarians from Bosilegrad, Tsaribrod and Besarabia. Even in Macedonia there is a belief, mainly through the channels of global propaganda that there are people there, who are something other than Bulgarians. The book touches the very interesting topic for the descendants of the ancient Bulgarians in other parts of the world outside Bulgaria. The book pays attention to the attitude of the Bulgarian people to their origin and their own historical past.

The book explores the so-called Bulgarian "People's History" in the light of the concept of collective memory. Traced is its construction and operation period of the national and state formation to the present day and its role as "authentic," "transmitted from generation to generation centuries of knowledge", according to the romantic vision of the XIX century for "national spirit." Main problem circles are the interaction between oral and written, institutional, local, scientific discourse - popular literature - folk narrative. The specifically analyzed material is "before" or /pseudo/ historical accounts of battles and death of King Shishman and those of the birthplace and grave of Reverend Paisii Hilendarski near Samokov. Traced is the mechanism of constructing a "before" the end of the XIX century to the present day, through continuous dialogue between oral /folk/ local knowledge and the printed word - press releases, local lore, scientific and popular literature.

Do the interested in literature in the country need binoculars to look at foreign writing and at some out-of-literature areas such as politics, journalism, mathematics, painting? What do we gain from gazing at the closest, the homely, the modern, where are the details' messages? Routes of this study provide answers to these questions. The characters here are the Bulgarian newspapers since 1992, but also those from the end of the first decade of the new century, Stanislav Stratiev, Dino Budzati; Blaga Dimitrova and Vislava Shimborska, and Silvia Plat, Isaak Singer, Paolo Giordano, Khaled Hosseini, Bepe Severnini, Kiril Merdzhanski, Galin Nikiforov, Vasil Georgiev. This is a contemporary look at the literature for which the distances are part of the challenge.

In this book, except from the presented interference errors, an attempt is made to explain the psycholinguistic mechanism of perception, respectively incomprehension of a linguistic element of language acquisition and the reasons for borrowing certain phonemes, morphemes and tokens by native (first) language. However, it is addressed how Bulgarian linguistic consciousness accepts this speech with interference variations of phonetic, morphological and lexical level. Elena Hadzhieva's research interests are aimed at applied linguistics, problems of comparative morpho-syntax and methodology of language teaching.

This book is a successful attempt to create a model that systematically presents the main activities and can be applied to different situations. The conceptual emphasis is the authors viewpoint on how to make a comprehensive rhetorical analysis "step by step" in the application of basic rhetorical knowledge. There is an author's interpretation of the basic ideas, principles, concepts and rhetoric PR. An important achievement of the book is the analysis of issues related to rhetoric and PR. The cognitive value of the book is determined by the types of information that it provides: theoretical - as slender, systematic, explicit statement of the theoretical fields, principles, paradigms and forms of rhetoric, applied-science - as a projection of knowledge into action, meaningful - in richness of the derived from the Bulgarian reality information presented accurately, presented critically, analytically and professionally.

The first book of short stories by Georgi Tomov is a rarely strong debut. With an abundance of life experience behind him, in this book he unfolds a dazzling array of bizarre stories, breathing vivid characters and complex ethical dilemmas that have no easy and one-sided solution - all served with a wonderful, mature writing style. These pages contain everything - laughter, sadness, happiness, there is sorrow and tears, but mostly deep, profound understanding of the essence of humanity in its various forms. There are the people - weak and subject to the passions, but strong and sweeping all obstacles when they clarify what they want from this snarling life - and they reach to take it. Many of the characters have seemingly succeeded, but have lost the humane - and depart urgently to catch up.

Zlatiu Boiadjiev (1903 - 1976) was a famous Bulgarian painter. He is known for his portraits and landscapes, depicting mainly the Old Town of Plovdiv and village life in its vicinity. The extraordinary productivity of Zlatiu Boiadziev brings us face to face with a creative phenomenon, which is rarely met throughout the history. It is difficult to determine which are the most important manifestations of the unbridled genius - before or after the disease had befallen him. One thing is clear - the fate has given light to the brightest talent with the ability to observe the world in his own way. Sunk in the depths of the subconscious, the artist drains native juices with a deep national flavor. We, his descendants, perceive paintings with our super senses and the impact is shattering. Same happens with the folk song. He has received many state awards in his own lifetime. Despite the low bow to the power of the creative genius, not for a moment he became a court painter. The present book is a biography of his life and works.

This collection presents material of the Round Table "Bulgarian Communism - two decades later," devoted to the state of research and public reflection on the communist regime in Bulgaria after its decay. The edition contains historical, anthropological, sociological and cultural studies. In fact, this largely reflects the state of the research on the problem and is a further development of the scientific debate, which formed at the round table. The book outlines two different phases, marking the beginning of a more general historical and public debate about how to think about the communist past and the forms of its life in the present. The hope of the participants in this collection, however, is that such a discussion will eventually come - not only in the academic staff, but also in the society as a whole.

This book is a study on translation as a kind of linguistic mediation phenomenon with a social purpose and factor in the public mind, an ideally located field for law enforcement in various stages of litigation with multilingual participants. It is a guarantee for the protection of their rights, in particular the right of citizens to equal access to justice, a fair and public trial, and information to a language they understand of the nature and cause of the accusation against them. In Bulgaria, the topic is virtually unexamined, which may be explained by the fact that so far the lawsuits involving the translator are not relevant to the practice of the court. This work is an attempt to outline the characteristics of the legal translation as a whole, the figure of the court interpreter. Mentioned are the concerns and the issue of ethics of the profession and profile of the court translator as a mediator not only between languages, but mainly between cultures.

This manual, through illustrations, photos and detailed explanations, demonstrates the technique for quickly developing high-quality models from available materials on the Bulgarian market. The impactor is a three-dimensional volume-spatial representation in a reduced or enlarged to design parts, machines and more. Models are used to illustrate the design of individual buildings, structures, urban planning, monuments and more. In the distant past the Bulgarian builder Kolio Ficheto made almost all of his projects of wax models, then he is realized them. The construction of a model in the process of architectural design contributes to a more complete picture of the projected object. Impactors help to determine the construction materials, colors, value of the project in progress, etc. Trending in recent years, three-dimensional computer design doesnt have the effect of the model and does not give full-volume rendering of the object.

The book can also be seen as a kind of portrait: its task is to show you the math like you have never seen it before. It is about a new mathematical discipline that is born less than seventy years ago as a result of a collaboration between two of the most prominent mathematicians of our time - Saunders Mac Lane and Samuel Aylenberg. Its name is theory of categories and it does not have its own object. Instead of being interested in a certain type of objects like numbers or geometrical figures, it explores the mathematical structures themselves. Thus the theory of categories allows us to see the common between branches of mathematics and provides us with a universal language in which can be dressed the results of each a formal theory. With hundreds strictly defined definitions, detailed sound theorems and detailed diagrams, this book will allow the reader to assimilate the language, which in the last quarter century has found dozens of applications in various scientific fields - from physics and mathematics in logic and computer science to philosophy and social theory.

The monograph introduces the reader to the world of a peculiar race: between opportunities provided by technology and the natural limitations of man. In flight, in three-dimensional air, the human psycho-physiological resources exist in the conditions of constant trials. Aviation is an area with a high level of security. But approximately one third of the aviation accidents with casualties are due to spatial disorientation in flight. This is the main reason the monograph is addressed to members of the flight crew, as well as specialists in flight safety. The first step to solving any problem is its recognition. The second can be a conscious and purposeful search for information - in this case provided by the leading schools in the aviation psychology, Russian and American.

The theme of today's commercial buildings affects interesting and relevant issues about an architectural form with a long history, but with a new, and more than ever, social and economic significance and controversial architectural and aesthetic value. Multi-faceted and long is the development of the image of the commercial buildings, for Bulgaria as well as for most countries. Although the functions and the importance were constant over the many years of development, the image is one of the most volatile architectural pursuits. Often the specific activity leads to the rediscovery of already known and used methods. The enrichment with additional features always leaves a mark in the morphology of these buildings. The fact is that trade and architecture are the oldest and most stable forms, in which the symbolic importance is part of the intercultural bridge in all historical moments in the development of mankind.

This bilingual collection contains materials from the International Conference in the "Scandinavian" faculty in "St. Kliment Ohridski ", organized on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778). There were subsequently added more texts designed specifically for the collection of their authors, eminent scientists from Bulgaria and other countries. This issue coincides with the anniversary of Prof. Vera Gancheva, organizer of the conference and a famous name in the development of Scandinavian Studies in Bulgaria, researcher, literary critic and translator, author of an impressive number of publications, and a public figure. Through this paper a university professor expresses appreciation for her work and her contribution to science and literary creativity. Elizariia Ruskova - editor of the book - submitted each of the articles which found a place in the collection and stressed that its contribution is the variety of texts and authors, who have different backgrounds and interests, and the fact that the emphasis falls on the XVIII century, which has not been examined in detail in Bulgaria yet.

This book is a fascinating study of the life and work of the Triavna painters during the XVIII-XIX centuries. The author, Liuba Tsaneva, for the first time reveals the secrets of the painters families, which have been passing down the art from father to son for centuries. With much love she recounts the rich family traditions and admiration of generations of painters for the art of iconography. The book put you into the Renaissance atmosphere of Triavna, a unique city, where almost every second house was filled with the smell of paint, in which were performed carving and other crafts. The book is remarkable for its rich collection of over 120 icons from the Triavna School of Painting. Seventy percent of them are published for the first time. Also included are many drawings and decals that reveal the technology of creating icons. The book of Liuba Tsaneva is a valuable contribution to the study and popularization of the Bulgarian art.

Most of them have been incorporated into international publications. A large number of the texts contain similar ideas, facts and analyses. All this has been done with a view to assessing the evolution of the standpoints and changes and to getting a better idea of the authors texts, as well as of the ones included in this publication.

The Fourth Crusade in the Historical Memory of the Eastern Orthodox Slavs addresses the unexplored area of the Eastern Orthodox Slavs documented attitudes towards the Fourth Crusade and the sack of Constantinople in 1204. Snezhana Rakova has amassed and analyzed all the relevant documents known today originating from Russia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Moldova, that give the picture as seen by contemporaries, followed by its evolution (or lack of such), making it influential until the 18th c. Comparisons are made with relevant Greek and West European sources. The author deals with a rich variety of narratives, i.e. chronicles, hagiography, prophecies, official and ecclesiastical correspondence, and epigraphy; she infers on the historical consciousness of the Mediaeval Slavs, their political propaganda and religious identity. Five of the most revealing texts are appended, both in their original Old Slavonic version and in English translation: The Anonymous Russian Account of the Capture of Constantinople by the Franks, Archbishop Antony of Novgorods Pilgrims Book, The Nikon Chronicle (Excerpts), A Serbian Sixteenth-Century Chronograph (Excerpts), and The Brancovich Chronicle (Excerpts).

The state of the lapidary monuments in Sozopol is dynamic: some appear as a result of ongoing constructional works, others disappear. Particularly indicative is the fact of the existence of the Southern Fortress Wall and Tower Complex and its Museum Collection, which is a private venture. The walls of the Museum complex abound in 'spolia' gathered from various archaeological sites (cf. fig. XlVb). Samples from the Bishop's Church are also part of the collection of this museum. Thus being severely endangered, due to different circumstances, the lapidary monuments from Sozopol cry for a systematic study and - most of all - for publication of all existing samples of the architectural sculpture there. I am firmly convinced that the form of a catalogue would be the most appropriate from in view of the goal. From the variety of criteria, according to which the material can be structured (date, origin, decoration etc.), I chose to present the monuments after their function. I believe that this approach allows best the tracing of the development of architectural sculpture over the centuries at one particular area. And above all, the aim of this study is to create a comparatively exhaustive 'database' for future research. This study is based on the existing academic achievements on Early Byzantine and Medieval sculpture, chiefly in Constantinople. A starting point for any study are Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, consecrated in 537; the Church of the Holy Virgin Pammakaristos (Fetiyeh Camii), 12th century; the church of Theotokos at the Monastery of Constantine Lips (Fenari Isa Camii), consecrated in 907; the church of Holy Saviour in the Chora Monastery (Kahriye Camii), 1 Ith-I2th century, reconstructed c. 1316 to 1321. These examples are correlative to diverse aspects of art of the period in view and thus to that of the Bulgarian capitals of Preslav and Veliko Turnovo as well as other towns /From the introduction - the author/

This book is the catalog of the exhibition The Everyday Life of the Roman Legionary on the Lower Danube, organized by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The subject of the exhibition is prompted by the collected finds from the excavation of a number of military camps. The main significance here is the finds, discovered at Novae during the 50 years of excavation by a Bulgarian-Polish team. Judging by the finds it is impressing how extremely rich the everyday life of the Roman fighter was. The materials from the 1st century show that initially the warriors came with their vessels and household, produced in the large workshops in Italy that supplied the army. According to their origin the distribution of the finds of terra sigillata is as follows: 33% are Late Padana, 25% Arretine, 25% South Gaulish and 17% Eastern Mediterranean.

The Parchment Maze" is an archival suspense thriller, which topped national best-seller lists for years and which is currently in its sixth reprinting. In 2012, "National Geographic" made a film based on the book and featuring the author, entitled "Sword in the Stone & the Orpheus Amulet". The novel combines real archeological evidence plus a healthy jolt of fantasy. "The Parchment Maze" itself has a curious history created in 2007 and published in January of 2009, could its sensational discoveries be the true and unacknowledged source of the literary angel-mania that swept the globe? "The Parchment Maze" offers readers a totally new way to look at human history and theories about the angelic ones. Some see them as saints and deities, while great artists such as Ovid, Dante and Orpheus described them as shades. Thousands of others have called them angels, but few have ever descended to the bowels of the earth to discover their true faces. Today, however, for the first time, a human being is close to grasping their true essence. While studying similarities between Christianity and Thracian Orphism, archeologist Vera Kandilova stumbles across perplexing symbols tied to a prehistoric Balkan civilization that mysteriously disappeared 5,000 years ago. What begins as a purely academic scavenger hunt across Germany, Russia, Italy and Bulgaria leads her to frescoes in the Roman catacombs, a medieval amulet, engraved golden tablets, prehistoric clay vessels and ultimately to a cryptic manuscript called The Parchment Maze. The intellectual puzzle quickly gets visceral after a series of murders, thefts of valuable artifacts and a kidnapping, the clues show Vera the path to uncovering the secret of the legendary incorporeal ones those who jealously guard the most ancient knowledge from humanity and grant insight only to enlightened individuals such as Jesus and Orpheus. Their secrets have been sought over the centuries by powerful scientists and politicians, including Hitler, numerous popes, secret services and military organizations. Vera is determined to follow a trail of clues to the Lower Kingdom before the handsome assassin Ariman, with pale skin and colorful eyes, can obliterate them and Vera herself. An underground brotherhood led by the ghoulish Incorporeal One has raised Ariman to be a cold-blooded automaton. However, the merciless killer is also on a secret mission of his own the only thing that could possibly tempt him from his path is love, since angels are capable of loving as no human being can
